Article marketing can be an effective promotional strategy when starting a home business. But it requires writing and not everyone is good at writing compelling copy. Here are some tests to determine if your writing is compelling. Do people who receive what you write want to make a photocopy of it, send an e-mail to their friends saying, “Important for you to read this” or do they want to TAKE ACTION after reading it? After reading it, will they ACT?
In Article Marketing The First Few Seconds CountIt is an unfortunate fact that most people will only read the first few lines of it. Writing a great headline is very important. Some people, when they’re confronted with a long sales page, will skip right to the bottom to find out the cost, then jump right back up to the top if they feel it’s worth their time. Take a closer look at your article - especially the very first paragraph. How can you condense and make your message attract the casual browser and convince them to stay? Are you making good use of headlines, sub-headlines, photos and captions? There is a method to writing for success.
Does your call to action really call them to act or is it lost in all the text?Write as if you were talking to a person right in front of you. Always have something with you to record an idea or thought if one comes to you. Do it as soon as you think of it otherwise you may lose it. Keep your ideas and thoughts in one place. Then, if you need one you can take an idea and expand on it. When you get the idea expand on it and write down everything that comes up. Include all of the thoughts, words and phrases.
It is best to write from your own experienceYour knowledge or experience will shine through in what you write. Stick to one idea or thought. Looking at it in-depth may help something new develop. You could also look at it from different perspectives. Having strong opinions on something makes sure the reader has no doubt about what you are saying or how you feel about something. Write so the reader “gets it”. Go by how it sounds when you read it and how it looks when you read it. Have one thought flow easily to the next thought. When you are first writing an idea just let your thoughts flow. Don’t worry about punctuation or grammar. You can go over that later. It is good not to include yourself with the reader by using pronouns. Say “you”, “your”, “they”, “he”, “she”, “it”, or “the.” NEVER “we” or “our.” Talk to the reader. Don’t include yourself in the thought. NOT, “We all know...” rather, “Your thoughts tell you...”
Sleep On ItIt is sometimes better to edit a day later. Read it aloud when you edit. Having other people read it after is a great idea. It is your opinion and that is what you want to come through. If you love writing your passion will show through. Your pride in your work gets people’s attention. The more writing you do you will find it easier to let your thoughts flow and the more successful writing you will do. Use these tips to make your article marketing more effective. Grabbing and holding the attention of your reader are essential. You will be rewarded with traffic and conversions which are the essence of starting a home business successfully.
